I guess this depends on how we define "scientist".

If its someone who has worked in science, applying it in industry for thirty years, signing up to all the professional bodies, jumping through all the hoops of fire we are supposed to jump through, gaining quals like BEng, MSc, CEng, MIET, MINCOSE, then finally starts working towards PhD before realising it all is fundamentally flawed systemically, even education and science itself suffering from this flaw, commoditising learning into trades like "Science", "Engineering" further subdividing into biology, genetics, microbiology, quantum physics, yada yada, all because of what is an energy lie at the root of all profit, which is energy robbed from the planet, then, maybe this would be me.

I am someone who has been immersed in science all my life, but I still recoil from being called a scientist, because to me the most exciting part about science is applying it, coming up with plans, Engineering plans, designs, things, designing systems and so on.

So there is at least one plan, one that is thoroughly researched from first principles, cross-analysed with all the links, to all the cross linked implications, all the stakeholders including planet, sun, and nature, and it is even in a form, that if science can move just a little towards a model based strategy, can be captured as an achievement of science, because it isn't really expressible in documentation form alone, there are certain systemic concepts that can only be expressed in graphical modeling language, which has to become accepted as submission towards scientific / adademic acdreditation of PhD, then maybe we could say it was a plan devised by scientists. I actually don't care much, even if it is picked up from open source and adopted by some ambitious young scientist, giving me no credit at all, I would still raise a glass to them in celebration, because we would all get the benefits of finally a sustainable world, one that is fair, fairly rewarding all for valuable work done, and one in which our presence would finally have gone from being net destruction, to net creation.
