I get what Umair is saying, you should know I am a long term fan.
But it is frustrating, to see so many caught up in emotion, missing the real source of the problems.
The source of the problem isn’t human at all, but it is very human to miss it.
I notice you acknowledged somewhere else that we each live in a fantasy world, and perhaps we evolve towards understanding more of reality, less of fantasy.
I put it to you that the world becomes a better place when we understand more of reality, that each of us has a choice to improve our connection to reality, that the object of learning is a kind of evolution within the individual.
Reality is we that we have lived unfairly on finite, dwindling resources throughout our known history, therefore a collateral damage on humanity has always been necessary.
Scarcity was never an illusion, it was a harsh reality that we needed a certain degree of illusion to be able to deal with.
But now we see this is no longer true, in the last ten years, no more, backed by solid logical fact and mathematics, the conversion of sunlight to money, the outcome is far bigger than any argument between individuals.
Scarcity is no longer real, it is an illusion, and we have solid physics and maths to show it.
Pointing to others, blaming them as the source of the problems is only relevant to the old world, where we needed to decide who rightly deserves to win, because there always had to be winners and losers in that old zero-sum world.
Now, everyone really can be winners, the only thing standing between us, and infinite wealth for all people, instead of continued destruction of our environment, and a constant toll of human collateral damage, is education, or the lack of it, keeping us immersed in illusion, preventing us from seeing this vital change of reality.
Umair is an economist, he is far better equipped than most, including me, to see it, but still he does not, preferring instead to spend time assigning blame.
I find that frustrating.
But I am sure it will change sometime, as it can’t be ignored forever.
