I get that your heart, and the hearts of most scientists, are in the right place, but I don't think that we, or they in general, really "Know what to do".
To me we destroy our envionment, not because its a social norm to do so, but because we are forced to do so, by what is actually a system of energy slavery, which we never call out for what it is.
All business for profit forces us to do this. You or any of us can't guarantee that we would do any different from those destroying the environment for their liveliehood, or even those committing and assisting genocide, would do any different, if our own lives were on the line, like theirs usually is.
The truth is that by stopping doing what they are doing, they invite immediate death, this is the penalty for individually stopping doing what we do, and you do it also, just by working for the money for, and consuming the food you eat, you also are participating in the grand system of energy slavery - we all are.
The only way to stop this mad rush to a burning planet for all of us, is to start issuing the money due for the only actually creative / planet cooling product produced to date - the economic product created by use of solar energy.
This is not small sums, it is approachig trillions for larger countries, and has been hundreds of billions in all developed countries for a number of years. As long as it isn't issued, it jus keeps accumulating, whilst the only energy growing energy source continues to grow, and all the others (All extracted from the planet), continue to deplete and shrink.
This is the only way to monetise product created from energy which was donated to us and our planet for free, by the sun.
Profit is the dishonest energy lie behind all slavery and colonialism, and actually all planetary heating done by us in history.
This is the hard, physical, systemic truth, and we have techniques and even intelligences that assist us to analyse all of this, including proof with numbers, full energy system audits with numbers.
But its a live beast, an emergent property, this thing controlling us to act like swarming ants, consuming one another when availability of energy in the environment becomes scarce, like it is and has to, as long as it comes from finite sources on the planet, again always at cost of throwing much extracted energy to waste heat, as well as all pollution.
The only way round it is to move completely to solar, and we have to do this by also monetising it, this is the only to get the created benefits to all needing it - all of us, no exceptions.
So solar indexed stimulus has to start.
As soon as it starts, we start to unwind the damage done, including the temperature, it starts to wind down instantly.
We already saw proof of this when stimulus was issued during covid, oil prices instantly went negative, and a stack of other great things happened in the environment, including many things scientists previously thought were impossible.
You probably don't remember, but before oil prices went negative, we never thought for an instant that could ever be possible, but it happened, and it was a miracle, brushed under the carpet by subsequent events, including declaring the stimulus as something that had to be repaid - no longer for free, so no longer indexed to energy received for free. Since then we've seen money inflate, because it is becoming less and less representative of the only energy which is for free, and the only energy use of which is growing.
The money representing it has to be issued for free, to all people, for that money to have the required value of energy in it - in other words to retain the value of money, to stop the inflation, it has to be issued for free, because this is how the only creative energy is issued, by the sun.
I still don't see much of science saying this, but am not surprised, most of science still depends on profit for its energy. We all do, we all have to, until the need to do this is removed, the only way it can be, by issue of solar indexed stimulus.
This will be the catalyst needed, incentivising all and empowering all to finally leap over to domestic and community based solar - all governements, all businesses, all people will be motivated to go solar, and to use as much of that as possible to do the work of bringing the temperature back down, creating hydrogen fuel capable of keeping all aerospace airborn, as well as replacing the energy heatsink on the planet, which was previously oil before we used it all, throwing it all to heat.
The only overshoot we see, and the scarcity of wealth / energy we see, causing even genocide now, is voluntary, and unnecessary.
It continues, and the destruction and heating continues, as long as we carry on with the system of energy slavery, all based on the dishonest energy lie of profit at its heart.
You might not think you are part of it, but you are, we all are, as long as we do what we need to do to just continue eating food, which comes out of this system, and we currently have no choice to continue doing that, unless we choose to just die, yes?
