I find it difficult to even start reading your story as the outcome seems obvious from the title, it presents reasons to believe (that religion has a function), rather than reasons to question (why religion exists).

What drives an article (even the title alone) designed to corroborate an established belief?

Why is religion a subject that the established “scientific” mindset spends no time in actually questioning?

Those are much more interesting questions to me.
