I don't advocate communism, nor capitalism, if anything we might call it Energyism. The solution is physical, nothing to do with ideologies or violence, unless we consider nature as something violent. I guess we will see it capable of massive genocide very soon, if we don't change in the way it is dictating we change.
Energy is it's / her currency, not capital. We have to change to energy being our currency also, otherwise we are toast, like all the wildlife already burnt in the explosion of forest fires around the world.
I am a long practicing Systems Engineer, historically in defence and aerospace systems, who has been working voluntarily on the energy problem now for almost seven years, at own expense. It is a much bigger problem than we can comprehend, even if we use all the dramatic words like apocalypse or whatever to describe it, we can't actually know it fully without having the personal experience of being taken out by it, but we can get much closer to knowing, and actually seeing the solution, by using formal systems Engineering techniques to manage and cut through the complexity. I can tell you from also some PhD research experience, most scientists are not equipped with these skills, definitely very few politicians or economists, if any.
Doing the analysis reveals that profit and debt are directly related to temperature rise. This is compounded by inflation in a way that makes it part of an immovable hyperobject, in fact it races towards us all the faster, the more we try to fight it with profit driven business.
What aligning money with energy will do, is it will prevent all future deception with money, all possibilities of the setting up of debt and interest, it will no longer be possible to monetise promises that might or might not be kept, or to con wealth from anyone in any way, when all currency is rationalised to a number of Joules per token, and honestly distributed by something automatic, itself fully solar powered to ensure it has no biases towards profit.
The motivation to deceive disappears with the need to profit.
A substantial unconditional, automated, permanent UBI for all people is what is needed for this, and this is perfectly sustainable if it corresponds directly to solar energy put to use.
Meanwhile everyone horrified by that will no doubt carry on trying to make the ever greater profit margins needed to try to stay afloat in the face of spiralling inflation, whilst watching the planet burn, exponentially more each year. If we try to fit a mathematical function to the rate of increase of forest fires already seen globally over the past few years, we'll find it is impossible, the order of the exponential itself increases exponentially.
We actually only have a very short time left to make the required change, and this time is almost impossible to predict, like trying predict when exactly a bolt of lightning will finally strike, practically impossible, what we are seeing is literally an explosion in slow motion for now, but it won't stay slow for long.
So this is the choice you / we all need to make, on what to do next after capitalism.
Personally I made the decision a number of years ago, before covid, that I am not about to wait for a fire to be lit under me, to accept the ultimatum from nature;
Energy is her currency, the only issuer and enforcer of it is the sun, we either use it, or burn.
