I didn't leave it out, it is abstracted out, as has to be done at conceptual level, to avoid being distracted by detail, because thats what it is, the claimed impact of minerals / mined rare earths etc, associated with domestic and community solar hydrogen, given also we are already well on the way to becoming at least solar powered. Monetisation of solar, by sales of hydrogen, which can be non profit, will provide wealth from energy received for free, as I describe in the money-fuel tree story.
Abstraction is a standard systems Engineering technique and requirement. It's not that the details are forgotten, it's that the detail are not in the way of the main system concept.
The only one with significant impact are batteries which require kilos of lithium per kwhr stored, and we can minimise that by maxing out use of hydrogen. most materials exist already in the grid, no reason they could not be repuropsed, as is usual when old equipment is recycled. There are many ways we can analyse the reduction in demand for rare mined materials that will come about by energy independence, the need for profit is almost completely removed, removing the need for anyone to get involved in the bullshit business of mining just to make some money. Would-be miners would be removed from poverty removing them from having to do the work of mining, as well as the owners, from having to enslave them.
