I did some some studies (With subsequent stories in Medium), on the other forms of stored Earth energy, there are some that might seem innocent to use, but actually could have far more serious side effects than the ones we know about, from use of fossil fuels.

Use of any of the kinetic energy stored on Earth, in its rotation, for example can't be reversed by any known technology, there is no way we could use solar energy to undo the effects of that which could accumulate to throwing us out of solar orbit, sooner or later. That we already have to insert leap-seconds in atomic clocks should be something that causes concern, it seems to me, it indicates our trajectory is already changing.

On use of geothermal, if that is actually residual heat from when Earth might have been ejected from the sun (Which makes more sense than the intellectually challenging, so more profitable scenario of Earth being created from cosmic dust, it seems to me), then we would be changing the fundamental temperature of Earth, which could upset the thermal equilibrium of Earth. Again there is no known technology we could use to undo the effects of that. So it seems there are some stored energies we should consider sacred, the ones inherited from the sun, rather than things created after we were ejected, like fossil fuels. It all starts to look religious, maybe here we see why we have religions, it makes some sense that they were guidelines left for some infant intelligent species, some do's and don'ts, if we wish to survive to become an adult intelligent species, where we ourselves might create further intelligent species of our own, on other worlds we might visit, with non-intelligent mamals... who knows, fact is stranger than fiction, and there really is only one truth, that we are in process of learning :)
