I can't help wondering if similar considerations as these went through the minds of those forming communist governments at their inception. No wonder I guess, that they concluded no religions was best, far less complicated. But look where lead to, massive repression. And to be fair, religion survives anyway.
I love the story of how Cuban people managed to preserve Yoruba principles, disguised as Christianity, they call it Santeria, so they could even wear crosses whilst secretly practicing Yoruba. That incredible history makes Santeria worthy of analysing and following ourselves if we like it, it seems to me, because in a way it includes Christianity, and actually all religions, it even has embedded references to ancient technologies which to me must have existed, just too much rhymes with history for it to be all hocus pocus.
And it's fun, involves a lot of dancing, hence why Cuba leads the world in that ancient art :)
