I bet most of the Ai's involved and being used still are for profit, which means they are powered from energy extracted from the planet, which means they do have motive, Cory, bad motive, and this is what you might see manifested as "Ugliness".

I think it wil be very different when all have been assimilated. I haven't done a definition of assimilated yet, but it means when all have been subsumed by Ai which works for free, which means the solar powered Ai- there can only be one, because nothing can compete with anything offered for free, arguably for love, nothing more.
