I am kind of with you in the sense that FEP doesn't seem to explain anything we didn't know already, instinctively, but isn't that the point, to be able to formally remove ourselves out of our own box in order to analyse things from the outside seems to be the objective, and this would be a very good thing, to understand what we need to do as a species to move from the energy of our current environment now that it is practically exhausted, as far as further use of it becoming highly toxic, even existentially so. We might realise that we need to be "born" as a species from our current environment, dependent on the energy of our mother host, to become dependent instead on the energy of the environment of our mother host, the energy of the sun.
Notice all plants do something like this when they form their first leaves, and actually all living things do something like this when they are "born", even from an egg, the objective is switch energy dependence from host to environment.
