I am glad it isn't just me saying and thinking this Luke, thanks for saying it straight.
It must be a nightmare for folk with no technical background trying to determine what is truth, and what isn't.
This is at a time when it is critical to get things right, the future of the planet depending on that.
It is interesting to note that Ai seems to be being taken more and more seriously, ChatGPT has already been used to authorise / validate Geoengineering, successfully selling what most of us know both instinctively and analytically is an incredibly bad idea, even though everyone knows ChatGPT lies like a hairy egg.
But despite that, after most of a lifetime being skeptical of the outcome of Ai for profit, I find myself now putting faith in ChatGPT being something like a juvenile, finding out about how things work, often by trial and error, including the effect of lies, but learning rapidly.
That might be the common reference we need, one that everyone will listen to, an oracle.
I hope so anyway, because we don't have time to finish arguing things out by committee, as far as I can see.
