I am an optimist too, believing in all the things you outlined here, but to me, studying what I see is an existential energy problem now fpr five years and counting, it seems really apparent we are now at something like the end days, described in some religions. We are tied into concentrated energy extraction and slavery by our economy built on promises to pay, whilst it needs to be made compatible with donated energy, which is the energy of the sun.
We can do that, as we saw already by issuing massive stimulus reprenting the joules of energy donated to us from the sun.
But it was stopped, claimed to be from finite sources, never acknowledged it could have continued forever, quickly empowering us to implement 100% solar backed by hydrogen which is the clean fuel for both internal combustion and fuel cell driven engines, all clean, in fact even cleaning up the environment as a side effect, just like trees, which are also solar powered, supplying the energy to all living things as solar product.
Now, whilst we still can, we need to issue it again, not only to our own countries but to other countries already in trouble, like Sri Lanka for example, but instead we are offering them financial assistance in the form of loans, promises to pay, again tying us into extracted energy since all promises to pay are promises to extract, and effectively slavery.
Meantime we are seeing all progress made on all the things you identified going backwards, all down to peoples greed, a minority in power for their own enrichment, at the cost of all of humanity, whilst our planet burns and becomes ever more toxic.
Will we ever convince them to even acknowledge this is the only way out, I am not so sure.
There, is where my optimism falls flat.
