I also am an Engineer, with similar experiences and opinion of working both as an employee and as a consultant, over thirty years.
My specialism is Systems Engineering, for the past six years or so, concentrated on analysing the energy system, when the problem of energy unsustainability at profit first became apparent to me, whilst engaged in PhD candidate research work.
One of my earliest stories in Medium was named "Breaking out of the Neoliberalism Prison".
Actual reality, is that the days of being able to run very large corporations and businesses for profit are almost over.
It ends when we move truly to free energy.
We are already in process of doing that, but profit driven parties do not admit to seeing the evidence of this.
Profit itself is dependent on availability of energy by extraction.
Energy for free is more attractive than extracted energy, hence we are moving to it.
The effect on economy is inflation, by solar product outstripping issue of money.
Money Issued as debt, only monetises extracted energy, not energy received for free per Joule.
So now money issuers have to issue massive stimulus sooner or later to cover solar product received historically and ongoing.
When that happens, no one will work for your companies except volunteers.
If your business can't survive like that, then it will go under, because no one will invest their free money in your bankrupt shares either.
The days of capitalism are almost done.
Now, we are moving to Energyism.
The longer folk believing in the old system of capitalism continue to deny this is happening, putting off the issue of massive stimulus honestly representing solar product put to use, the more people, and actually all living things, will suffer and die, and the closer we inch to a point of no return in environmental destruction done.
That is the the reality you are denying, it seems to me.
