I agree with your sentiment, we all need to learn to work in collaboration, but collaboration in most of nature has some specific enironmental conditions to be in place, offering reasonable rewards for collaboration.

This is where technology comes in, I think, in a way we might see nature itself is technology, it created plants and trees, those are machines we need to learn to emulate as a species, using our human technology, to achieve the environment needed, which rewards working in collaboration, so enabling us to practice working in collaboration.

But most importantly of all, we have to satisfy the basic energy requirements of nature to survive at all as a species, which we can only do working in collaboration. I would argue we needed technology to see this too.
