I agree with your opinion of neoliberalism, it is failing badly. But I think something much deeper is being missed, when we just focus on political "Right and Left", it is easy to get distracted, the problem actually goes all the way to energy. We are running out of energy we can practically use, all over the world, and until that is fixed, things won't get any better.
I won't go into huge detail here, it is in my 280 odd stories in Medium, but in short; every promise to pay is a promise to extract (Energy). The only way to break that deadly chain is to use the only source of energy which is pushed to us for free, and adds Joules to those already on Earth - the sun.
There, we should recognise the capability to generate the clean fuel of hydrogen and even food (Google "Solein"), and are already in production to some extent in all countries, but as yet no country has officially issued money to reflect that product, because the only way it can be honestly reflected is by issue of free stimulus to all people.
Since the product is the thing of value, not the money, money itself is now sliding in value. This is the real underlying reason for the inflation we see. Now there is no way out for the issuers of money, they have to issue it, to maintain its value, but by issuing it, all capital will be devalued, and we can't stop the solar revolution, because in the end, the sun is the only actual source of energy, we have to use it or perish.
So it looks like mother nature is a bit of a chess player. She has us currently at check, with one move to mate, it seems to me.
We are in process of moving from capitalism, to energyism, driven by hard physics. The question is, how much longer before that is admitted by those currently wielding capital to try to stay in power?
