I agree with you.
I liken our species to a fledgling being born, like a chicken in an egg, surviving from the limited energy of yolk, or mammal, surviving from limited energy of placenta.
Mother Earth hosts our yolk or placenta, fossil fuels are the limited materials of our finite stock of energy.
The sun is the root source of the environmental energy that created our stock, so that is what we need to plug into.
How we will do that, exactly, is what we are still in the process of finding out.
My 200+ stories in Medium are really all about that, from my point of view as a long practiced systems Engineer, using all of the formal tools of Modern Systems Engineering at my disposal.
The most fundamental change that we will, and are seeing, is the change from being driven by fuedal profit, to wrest our individual shares of the old finite oil based energy stocks, to being driven by collaborative dependence on the single, continuous, limitless source of energy that is the sun.
An awful lot of humanity appears to be unwilling to take part in this, the birth of our species, but take part in it is what we all must do.
Like you, I too find myself looking for one-off key events, that indicate where we are in the transition, that we might use to enlighten, because it seems enlightenment smooths the transition.
Key events for me were things like seeing the oil price go negative, just after the first 4Tn stimulus was issued.
To me, that was our first glimpse of the power of the new solar donation based economy.
Another was the slip of vaccine development from something we mostly instinctively know should have been a non-profit worldwide collaborative effort, to something profit driven, like a consumer product.
Obviously it can’t have the requred effect of killing the virus, but the most profit driven amongst us are the ones in control, and they seem determined to keep trying, for the moment.
That, to me, is to the profit driven economy what the Trump election, and the Brexit decision are to politics; signs of their ends, final desperate attempts to survive, but their end is inevitable, unavoidable.
We have to plug into the sun, and that means the end of the old economy of enforced scarcity, and all capitalism, and the beginning of a new market economy of donated abundance.
That means the end of all government, all business as we knew it, and probably also a lot of our ideas about science and religion. with the result that they all merge to a coherent, single narrative of truth, after the end of all profit driven misinformation.
But it is the beginning of something far greater than we had before, and most of us are really still struggling to get our heads around it.
Thanks for your thoughtful post, which I think will help those more advanced in the transition, to understand ourselves what it is we need to do; assist enlightening.
