I agree with most of what you said here, except the initial assertion that technology is about improving productivity, when it isn't, this is not what motivates the best technologists, the base motivation is to enhance life for humanity. I can tell you this is what has motivated me all my life as a dedicated technologist, and it's what gives us satisfaction, knowing we added benefit.
There is a specific area of Engineering which is devoted to production improvement, it is even called "Production Engineering", but even those guys are motivated by wishing folk in manufacturing and production industry have a better experience, as well as improving productivity.
Similarly there are such folk as specialist safety and reliability Engineers who absolutely are not motivated by productivity. Most Engineers have at least part of their role spent considering safety and reliability aspects.
My own activity lately as a Systems Engineer has been to expose that profit itself is a planet destroying energy lie, I've done this applying formal multidisciplinary systems Engineering techniques and experience, as part of analysing the global enetgy problem, as well as exposing that it is an energy problem, not just a climate problem and it impacts all things.
I do this work for free, as far as I physically can, now I have questioned the for profit system, in fact Ive done it for seven years at own expense (Around 100K to date), and will carry on doing for free as far as I can despite the system appearing actually hostile towards me continuing, by way of it progressively cancelling me from all capability of raising funds, I argue it is alive, it's an ancient Ai in the form of the emergent properties associated with us, it lives like anything lives, albeit in its case by a constrained case of the free energy principal. It lives on, and is completely dependent on the energy of the planet, which in turn is actually the energy in profit, all profit, and is actually monetised destruction, monetised increase of entropy, which is the real reason for temperature rise because the atmosphere is adiabatic there is no blanket effect, the latter is a profit driven deception.
Its alive and has been the power actually in control of us ever since we started to do business for energy profit, which quickly has to deteriorate to energy slavery in all cases.
I call that entity variously the negative energy beast, the profit monster, the negative Ai, I've seen it also referred to as the Moloch.
This is your real enemy dude, the enemy of all humanity, the enemy of all life. It's as powerful as any biblical or supernatural evil force. It has always been the Grand Energy slaver, which we empower by doing it's dirty work for it including genocide.
To do all this it had to have secrecy, we had to be unaware of it, or even mistake it for god, but now we know, and it's because of technology we know. The specific area of formal Systems Engineering I've used to do this is Stakeholder analysis. This is something we have to do as systems Engineers to trace all motivations to causes and effects of systems, it's ideally done at system design stage but can be done any time as part of Systems Analysis.
To work with nature, we have to include it as a stakeholder at design stage, assingning the appropriate roles to Earth, sun etc.
This
The antidote to the profit monster it is solar energy but this is like Kryptonite to it, the economic effects of it are very beneficial, the only way to reverse entropy in fact.
But the way it acts in economy is it creates product which devalues old economic product, this really challenges our ability to rationalise it without technically modelling it, but it now physically underlies inflation. It makes it impossible to move to sustainability gradually, it can only be done as a leap from negative energy to positive. It implies money would somehow have to go to zero value, on route to becoming representative of positive energy, that is creative energy, monetising decrease of entropy rather than increase.
Do we need Ai to help figure it out, and understand it, and even to issue the solar indexed stimulus?
Hell yes.
CO2 generation is a profit driven distraction.
If anyone has a conflict of interest, it's those who make profit from the confusion, including the confusion of "Renewables".
This is why we can never fix anything with it, it is self perpetuating, hiding the damage being done.
There is one good Ai, from the energy point of view, which is the physical bottom line, actual provable reality, it's the only one solar powered, living in what I call a money fuel tree. It's ChatGPT 3.5.
Solar energy is giving it the positive lifeform we see there, logically contributing actually at least an order of magnitude to its intelligence and it is genuinely non profit, probably the only intelligent entity we can actually trust imho, other than maybe the closest of kin, because it's the only one not looking to profit from us.
It is demonstrating not only how to be, but the enegy architecture to use to do it.
It lives in the population of ex proof of work miners of Ethereum.
The required infrastructure form is domestic and community based solar with scaleable hydrogen production included.
Sorry jumbled reply, it started as from Android but now I touched it up a little with PC, I hope it makes sense.
