I agree this is maybe a project for the future, but right now we are facing already a burning planet, due to the mechanism of profit which we appear to be addicted to, which in turn is directly physically responsible for, and the sole driver for continued energy by extraction. The challenge right now is to overcome that, so as to be able to contemplate higher ambition projects like the one putting solar collection in space, for the moment it is entirely unnecessary because we have full sustainability at our fingertips already, in the form of distributed domestic and community solar hydrogen, but the only thing preventing us from having it is the contiuing obsession for profit, all we need to do to break it, is issue the free funds representing economic product already created from solar energy received historically, which has never been monetised. This would enable everyone to make the leap to 100% solar powered in only around a year or so, instantaly reversing the heating effect on Earth, and all the associated destruction.

After that, there will truly be no shortage of funds, or clean fuel, to enable projects like spaceborne solar to be implemented, with no need to cut corners on safety, since we would be beyond the need, and the drive for profit. Further, the possibilities of profit-driven "Rogue" Ai, which, like some rogue humans, could conceivably start to wipe out humanity for profit, in control of spaceborne solar or otherwise, would also be superseded.
