I agree fusion should have a stake driven through it, at least until after we are solar powered. It might be useful after that for spacecraft, and ironically there would be massive availability of funds for it then, but we wouldn't need it on Earth if we were solar powered, as actually we have to go, to have any survival at all, given rising temperature being directly related to profit. This is what limits what can be spent on anything, how much further up we can push temperature before the pain of destruction gets too great, because the temperature rise, in a way is related to what is spent in the business for profit.
