I agree completely with your sentiment and would add that fundamentally the war isn't really about land, it is bigger than that, it is about energy.
For that reason the consequences are worse, the planet could not take the energy hit of a nuclear war, not now we are already tipping nature into chaos by our incessant use of extracted energy, a nuclear war would the final drop-kick. Life on Earth will not survive such a war, so we are right to try to raise alarms.
The problem is biblical, our survival seems to depend on recognising that, and acting accordingly. Use of energy by taking it from Earth has to stop, as surely as a baby needs to stop trying to extract ever more limited energy from placenta and mother, and just be born into the unlimited energy of it environment.
How did religions know all of this?
Because they've seen it before, over and over, and we keep failing the same test as a species worthy of being born; how to control our own individual animalistic greed and ego, as necessary to enable the shared logic, and love necessary for survival of all, not just a few.
And it is all unnecessary, the technical solution beginning with issue of Kardashev Money is there, all we need to do is understand why we have to recognise it, and use it.
