I absolutely agree with you. What we are seeing completely defies logic. I find it very disheartening to realise we seem to be reverting to wild animals, but now equipped with logic to make our most harmful animal emotions so much more deadly.
Imagine the carnage if we equipped apes with guns and showed them how to use them. What we are seeing looks no different, in fact apes would probably be more civilised.
We might have noticed excessive money seems to affect folks' ability to think clearly. Now it looks also like weapons have a similar effect. The more powerful the total weaponry, the more it screws our capability to think.
They are all forms of capital, which also all represent stored energy, that is energy used / work done to create things.
When we put these amounts of (Any or all of) energy, guns, information, money, in one place, all drawn from finite capital, it has to end in extinction, one way or another.
That this is never even acknowledged in any mainstream media is all the more worrying.
There is only one antidote; keep pumping up the injection of donated live energy into the system. There is only one source of that; the sun.
This devalues all capital (work done), by replacing it with something much more valuable (Work in progress), even though most invested won't admit it. This is the only way we will ever break the fatally destructive loop of capital obsession and dementia, it seems to me.
