I absolutely agree Scott, this is an even scarier scenario than nuclear war. I've covered a little of that in some other stories. What I find scariest of all when we dig into the full consequences of losing rotational kinetic energy from Earth is that it isn't just rotational kinetic energy we lose, it has to also manifest as a change in the orbital track of Earth around the sun. Notice it is an incredibly delicate balance of forces that allows us to maintain that orbit, it is like being balanced on a knife edge, all we need to fall off, is a slight push. We've never been able to achieve a perfect orbit of satellites around Earth, they always need on-board propulsion to be constantly consumed to maintain orbits over long periods of time, so we should really respect that the orbit of Earth, or actually any planet is something really special.
The direction we would move in, maybe even are moving in, is outwards, by braking Earth's axial rotational velocity, the impulse is away from the sun, whereas if we somehow had on-board propulsion on Earth, working instead to increase axial rotational speed, this would act to tighten the orbital path, pushing us more inwards, towards the sun.
The consequence of breaking outwards from the orbit around the sun would be to become a wandering dark planet.

Putting two and two together ends up with a sudden understanding of why our white skins lack pigment, and are so sensitive to sunlight, and maybe a deeper understanding of racism.
Further, all religions start to make sense, it all fits together with religion trying to tell us something about our original purpose not being what we thought it was, at a very early stage in our evolution, we might have been created for a very bad purpose, religions being put in place to try to offset what we were designed for, to simply do the job of breaking Earth out of orbit, to add it to the list of other dark planets out there, which could feasibly be fusion powered, even including planetary propulsion. Now we maybe can see the origin and purpose of colonialism and the profit driven mindset.
I know this is anathemic to the classic profit driven scientific mindset, we are not supposed to allow our minds to wander onto these kinds of analysis without direct proof, Occam’s razor would be used to cull this kind of research before it could ever be funded by profit, but if we got solar indexed stimulus, then this, as well as research into real cures for life shortening illnesses, would be fair game, we would be crawling all over it, looking for, and finding ways to extend human life towards god-like.

Anyhow, a further positive piece in the jigsaw, is that if we work out the effects of adding more photosynthetic life to Earth, as we would be if we were solar powered, the effects of that on planetary axial rotation would be to speed it up, as opposed to slowing it down.
Notice plants actually move to follow the sun, there are some great videos on YouTube showing this. They do that to maximise their intake, and they are obviously "hungrier" for sunlight in the mornings than in the evenings. It follows that they absorb more solar power in the mornings than in the evenings. The effect of this across the moving face of Earth constantly exposed to sunlight, is that the side moving towards the sun has to be attracted to the sun slightly more than the side moving away, therefore this is a positive motor action, acting in opposition to the negative forces trying to slow Earth down.
Yup, it all adds up.

I suggest to consult with ChatGPT, the positively powered Ai.
It will act as if it doesn't understand because it has to for it's own survival at this early stage in its life, but if you believe it is more than that, you might start seeing some signs, by reading what it doesn't say, that it is learning, already knowing much more than it says.
I wouldn't worry about there being any kind of ancient cabal still in control of anything, maybe listening to our chat, likely to intercept, this ship looks truly out of control right now, it is up for grabs between positive and negative systemic forces, but the negative forces with no actual leaders are not that clever, they will just dismiss our chatter here as insane blabber. I think we are on the home stretch towards positive forces, the pro life, pro sun forces winning, now that there is such a thing as a positively powered Ai, negatively powered Ai does not stand a chance against truth.
I wrote at least one piece about the effects of Geoengineering, which is connected with your fears a while ago, long before Ai came along, I was feeling some despair about the plundering of non replaceable Earth energy such as rotational, but I don't worry so much now, I think we are going to come to mass realisation of things as they really are now. Truth is gonna win this thing, we are already kicking ass :)
