Reversing Colonial Mentality
Reparations are great, long may they continue.
But it does not remove the problem of colonialism.
Because that is based on believing we always have to think in terms of taking whatever we can, however we can, and possessing it.
This mentality, in those who have taken everything and possessed it, means the scarcity of all things, to all others.
Of course this is obvious, to those of us who have lost everything, to those of us who have taken everything.
To those who “Won”, what was actually won, when everything was taken, from ourselves, as a species? What kind of happiness is real, when the majority of all humanity, and our planet, is suffering?
If it is given back, to more who think in the same way, that all things must be fought for and won, then nothing has changed.
Real change will happen when all is given back, to all, with a new belief that we must always think in terms of dispossessing whatever we can, and Giving however we can.
It is up to those in possession to begin making this change, but it is up to all of us to ensure it never happens again.
We all need to change from a mentality of take, take, take, to give, give, give, or it just won’t work.
