Hey Nick, thanks for posting. I believe you have good intentions, and probably most parties who run ads do also, (relatively) but if you think about what an ad actually is;

Partial information on something from the real world, which tells us only part of the “truth”, about what that thing is, or isn’t, only the good bits, leaving out all of the bad bits, in order to try to sell it to us.

Or worse, if it is about a rival political party, all the bad bits, leaving out all of the good, to try to bias us against it. How far away is this from a “News” story telling us only the bad things about the events, cultures, policies, and even the peoples of say, a rival country, is that?

In general, we humans of the neoliberism era are so steeped in the art of being deceptive, for profit, playing the zero sum game, we now struggle sometimes to see much of our communications for what they actually are… fake news!

For me, the top priority of any new media network which might change things for the better should be to give all users a whole, clear picture of the entire world, nothing taken out, (except where it might be breaching privacy), nothing added in, no bias of any kind.

With such a source of truth, we would be completely invulnerable to fake news.

With all of the surveillance technologies we have on us now, I think we are getting very close to enabling such a scenario.
