Hehe. Thanks for your post, interesting development.
I have no problem with this. To me at the root of it is energy. I gave up my own 4x4 caravan tugger a couple of years ago, after first getting rid of the caravan, and have built three e-bikes since then, riding two, one for cargo toting, and the other a chopper, for recreation.
Cars, especially EVs could be automated to become dial-up taxis convenient to everybody, requiring nobody except track enthusiasts and maybe folks "way out in the sticks" to actually own any, just dial one up when needed, and if the whole system was automated, no humans getting in the way, it would work like clockwork, every vehicle would be aware of every other vehicle, so never any jams, not even any traffic lights.
On where would all the money come from, it would come from solar stimulus, that I write a lot about.
I think another part of the conversion to a sustainable economy would be to move to storing the energy from solar as hydrogen.
Equipment for this is routinely available, but not cheap. It replaces batteries in EVs with fuel cells.
It would make sense for everything currently powered by fossil fuels by internal combustion, to be just converted to burn hydrogen, even planes.
As a systems Engineer, this is the system I've worked on for a few years now, to confirm feasibility.
I agree with Fuck cars, even though I love cars, driving sportscars most of the time when I drove, even the caravan tugger, I really like the sound of a high performance well tuned engine, and the feel of ripping round bends way too fast.
But to me it isn't the same since we realised it was killing the planet. Besides, gotta set the right example, when our message is about the damage done by extracted energy.
Would love one day, after the transition, to buy an old hydrogen converted bugatti v16, for a song, just to pose in and rip around a track now and then.
But for now I will stick with my e-bikes, and the odd bus or train, and yell "Hell yeah" when I see the Fuck cars banners arrive in UK.
Actually I wonder if anyone is selling e-bike bumber stickers or maybe baseball caps with that on yet - I am off to check Amazon...
