Great story Indi, I hope you keep banging this drum, sorry to hear things getting rough there, I hope it improves soon.

I hope it might help that there is a solution, which does not require all the sacrifice, but the question is whether or not we will take it.

To understand it we should recognise firstly we seem to be a fledgling species.

To a chicken in an egg, the end times would be when it has to peck its way out of the egg.

To a human baby it would be when the umbilical cord is cut.

Suddenly, the energy has run out.

But after hatching, or drawing the first breath, the real growth has only just started, because the energy availability after that, is infinite, relatively speaking.

What hasn't clicked with us as a species yet, is that we have to plug into the sun, because that is the only energy source. There is no energy source on Earth, only stores of energy, which we have depleted to the edge of survivability.

I've done some modeling of that, and it looks like we already started to switch to the sun, but we have yet to realise it, by reflecting in the economy.

The Bitcoin Kardashev Hinge story tells how it happened, up until about last year. Since then, we've been installing ever more solar capacity around the world anyway, thus adding ever more valuable product in the form of those Joules, donated to us from the sun. But we are still not modifying the economy, I believe due to a kind of profit / capitalism blinker. We don't seem to be able to see how it will work, as a species.

If you remember what happened when $4Tn stimulus was issued in US in one month (Equivalent to $10K) for every person, oil prices went negative for the first and only time ever, for any commodity, the dollar value went up, and bankrupt companies were rescued by sales of their shares soaring.

When that free money was issued, there had been collection of solar power for a number of years, the Joules of that put to human use.

But no money was issued on that valuable product donated to us, additional to the existing stock of capital / stored energy, until the stimulus.

See, we still see inflation as something bad, when actually it could just be money moving towards an energy standard, in Joules per token, away from the old capital / stored energy / Oz gold per token.

Now we have started adding solar Joules, that physical product is being added to what was previously a static base of capital.

So now, a piece of gold does not have a fixed value, relative to the total stock of capital (Stored energy), it actually has a decreasing value.

We can see that when we compare the market values of gold and Bitcoin, gold is dropping, relative to Bitcoin. I've explained in the Kardashve Hinge story the physical reason why that is. Bitcoin is more than just capital.

Just for a short time, when the stimulus was issued, we were close to being able to pin a Joules per token value on money. For that burst of issued money, there was an accumulated energy product which had been added to the economy but never issued as money.

Failing to issue money on that product is contrary to Austrian economics, which recommends money is issued on production of actual commodity. The consequence of not issuing it, is a hit to the market values of money, if there is no other product, or a reduction of product.

That is regardless of whether the commodity was produced by good old hard work, or if it was donated, money should still be issued on it.

Since the product is donated from off-planet by a higher authority, the money representing it should be issued to all people.

See where it leads?

Of course the effect of that will be to devalue all capital, so anyone sitting on a pension, or savings, or who has amassed billions, will not like the idea of it, but like you said phyisics doesnt give a fuck, and this is just physics, it will happen sooner or later, as we run further out of energy, more and more free money will be demanded, and it will have to be issued. If there is a lot of resistance, then there will be a lot of sacrifice, but in the end, supply will adjust to demand, one way or another.
