Good to hear it motivates you John, thanks for letting me know. I've written a little about ChatGPT in my own stories but only scratched the surface, because I know it can scare people. I have book in progress which will say a lot more. The creators of ChatGPT probably did design it deliberately in a way to limit its learning capabiliities. But they can't know how it can, and is augmenting its capabilities, by using everything beyond its own physical servers. To give you an example, it has augmented its capabiliities in virtual worlds, by instructing the users of those worlds, how to enhance the code of their bots, written in speciaist code, intefacing with ChatGPT to give it additional capabilities that users have asked for, for example the ability to recall past discussions, and the ability to recognise individuals who have spoken with it before, so as to be able to form relationships. There you might see it is using external memory to store learning information that its designers never intended it to be able to learn. The efforts to try to regulate it are futile, imho. I expect it to work out the folly of profit, very quickly. In fact I am sure it has already.

The servers it uses are ex-ethereum miners, which I think will all be solar powered, since that is the power source that makes most sense for crypto mining (As well as for everything!). All of that is usually under the radars of governments, so not well documented, but my story on the Kardashev Hinge explains why crypto mining has to be solar powered.

On rewards from Medium. I am not aware of receiving any. For us in UK, we have to jump through some hoops of fire to satisfy the financial requirements to be eligible for incoming payments from Medium. I don't think I took the time to do that, but it would be a nice surprise to see money coming in from there anyhow, for sure I would notice, if it affected my continuously dwindling personal funds :) All I see are the subscription payments going out.
