Good article, and great you are identifying things now as a global energy problem, rather than say, just a climate problem.
Shale oil is a great example of energy becoming difficult to extract, but increasing difficulty of energy extraction is happening across the board. All forms of energy extraction are requiring more energy put in, for less back out, so all profit is impacted, all business, including the businesses of rich elites, and even of money and banking, all of it is losing energy, more and more rapidly now.
We can't compare this with known events in history, this is more like the discharging of a battery, the grand battery of Earth.
But it is reversible, just by plugging the battery in, to the grand mains supply, which is the sun.
Showing why that is, is not straightforward.
