George, I am sorry to say mainstream science has borked this thing, I don't know why nobody thought to mathematically sign the energy coming into and out of Earth, we have to do that, because the enrgy coming in, being put to use from the sun, is the only energy additive, therefore the only energy that can be used to create, and all energy coming out is actually destruction. Our energy comes from pure destruction. We monetise destruction. Profit comes exclusively from destruction, it is a kind of energy robbery from the planet, we put a little in to do the extraction, and get a lot out, but all of it came from the planet, which put much more in than we can ever get out, and at least some of it ends up becoming heat, which is heat that would not exist if we didn't do the extraction.
Obviously we had to do this until now, there was no alternative, but now there is solar, we have to move entirely to it, otherwise we will literally self destruct, along with all of life.
Mainstream science is missing this, as long as it does not discriminate between mathematically positive and mathematically negative energy.
When we do that it makes a mockery of everything we call "Renewables", "Net-zero", and carbon mitigation.
CO2 is a symptom, not a cause. It is a multiplier of the negative effects of destruction at source.
Profit, for the reason explained earlier is actually energy stolen from Earth. This is how it is possible for money to be energy, and profit to be possible when energy can't be created nor destroyed. There is no such thing as profit in terms of energy, it isn't possible, what really happens in the profitable transaction is some energy is stolen from Earth. We just never considered Earth as a stakeholder before, so we disregarded the energy being taken from it.
I've said a lot more about this in my own articles, but never really emphasised the energy theft part much until now, when I don't think we can avoid it much longer, we are going to have to face down the fact that all business for profit was always a scam, a rip off. We will never fix the energy problem as long as that continues.
Notice in any case business for profit never fixed any problems, not covid, not cancer, not diabetes, and definitely not the energy problem, because if the problem was ever fixed, there is no more profit to be made, and no shareholder wants that, definitely not the business owner.
So it is the business for profit that has to end.
We can do it, much more easily than most folk realise, by monetising creation, where we know that is happening, ie all use of solar energy, especially by domestic and community solar, which is clearly not being monetised, no money is issued on that business which has transferred from utilities energy supply businesses, and it is worth a lot of money. Notice at the root, anything we can do with solar, other than just leaving it unused, is conversion of it to things other than the heat it would become if neither we nor nature used it (Notice we destroyed a large part of nature that used to use it). So actually what we should be doing, is not downsizing or any kind of degrowth, we should be maxing out on it, creating hydrogen for example, which not only functionally replaces fossil fuels but it also converts to human food (See "Solein"). Notice use of this widespread would have many beneficial side effects including circulation and filtration of both water and air, we could even keep all planes in the air, whilst adding a few we never saw before or haven's seen for a long time (Concorde, space shuttle).
We have to admit this profit thing is all played out, we played it a lot longer than we should have done, but it is not too late to turn things round and start winding the temperature back down, it seems to me.
