From a technical pov, appreciating art comes in many forms, we, the "Technically learned" community are system blinded energy slave ants.
We actually don't do so well on mechanically cross relating between different disciplines, especially in the deepest, or most learned specialisations of technology, there is now becoming recognised something called a "perception filter'.
This characterises the tendency to concentrate knowledge in each specialism, siloed from, and in competition with all the others.
Its the end result of a long period of commodification of education. What we lose, is everything in between. John Trudell, of indigenous Indian descent (youtube, 2010), had a much better understanding of systemic energy than we do now, even systems Engineers like myself, we struggle to get our heads round taking responsibility for all aspects of all systems.
So the modern human tends to feel like they / we personally are not responsible for the worst inhumanities being done by other people, or even by ourselves, we don't feel like we are an integral fully contributing part of what is a very inhumane, actually fully evil system of energy slavery destroying the planet.
But now the planet is reacting, forcing us to take notice, and responsibility, it's not coming easy to many.
This is the crunch, I think.
Nature is finally calling time on it.
But a much better world is coming next, if we can successfully negotiate the crunch.
