For the purposes of understanding this in terms of energy, I suggest to merge the two distinctions, living from rentier income and living from profit.

The two things are essentially the same in terms of energy.

Money is energy, always, capital is energy, always. Without energy, neither capital nor money would have any value. We might even say energy is value.

In each case, a little energy was put out, for more received back in return.

Remember energy can't be created or destroyed, only pushed around in various forms.

In the case of property, a little energy was given for it, and a lot is received back out of it, as it becomes more and more in demand.

There is no difference between this, and just investing cash in anything, in terms of energy.

It's all just living for energy profit.

The reason I suggest to do this merging, is because it is really important when it comes to the effect on the planet.

The planet is the only thing that can yield more energy than was put into it.

For every Joule yielded, there are orders of magnitude more Joules lost to heat, in every profitable transaction.

All of these Joules originally came from the sun, the only possible place they could have come from at source, nature created things with the energy of the sun that otherwise would have been just heat.

Then we take those things and convert most of them back to heat, wihilst using the tiiny part yielded as the energy we use, still making a profit from it, because the additional energy recieved as profit, is effectively stolen from the planet, without us even being aware of it, until now, when we have started to use the modern technologial tools of formal systems Engineering, as well as LLMs, to trace out, and audit all the energy flows, in and out of Earth, and nature, and us as a population.

So the thing causing all the damage to the planet, manifesting also as wars, and just general animosity between humans and one another, and our planet, and actually all other living things is just us, being driven by profit.

Everything that happens as a result of that, is the emergent property of us acting in this mode as a species.

Obviously it has to stop, if we want to avoid armageddon which will finish every one of us, one way or another, very soon. The slide towards war, atrocity, and genocide right now are direct effects of this, the profit monster. If we analyse its systemic motivation, it appears to be to end all life on Earth, leaving it as nothing more than a smouldering cinder.

I am not exagerrating here, and this is not religion, this is Systems Engineering, just me doing my job as a long practicing model based systems Engineer.

Folk have the choice to listen, and insist we do something about it before it is too late, the only thing that can be done to remove the need of all people to be driven by profit; issue substantial solar indexed UBI to all people.

That will be us starting to truly create from the only energy that can be used to create, converting the energy from the sun to things other than heat, winding the temperature back down.

I explain also how that will incentivise all to move completely to solar energy. It is only possible to get the volume of energy needed from solar on a domestic and community, distributed basis, because the energy of the sun is similarly distributed.

Notice we need as many hands to the pump as possible to do this. A major loss of human life right now is the last thing we need, the biggest mistake we could ever make.

All communities then dump their excess energy into hydrogen which can be used to replace fossil fuels with none of the pollution, even keeping all air transportation in the air, as well as all road vehicles including EVs via suitable conversion to hydrogen.

I write a lot more about this, suggest reading it up.

Btw, we can't monetise sunlight by profit, or money issued as debt, because the sun can't be tricked or robbed for more energy than it already supplies, for free, nothing asked in return. That's why we can say confidently that profit locks us into energy extraction from Earth, and actually destruction of Earth.
