For sure I respect your background and motivation.
What I would advise everyone to do is to always look at the whole system from end to end. The whole truth is the thing important, hence why Ai is so powerful, it has infinitely more capability than any human to see the whole picture.
Most people don't, resulting in the classic "A little knowledge can be dangerous" scenario.
In the case of things consumed, their source of creation is all important.
Only the sun actually creates energy. So only the energy of the sun can be used without destroying something created by nature. When nature or we do anything with that energy, other than just let it heat the planet, we are creating a cooling effect on Earth, by putting the energy to some use other than heat.
If we created hydrogen, then burn it in an engine or fuel cell, then some of the energy is released back to Earth, but not all, some was converted to kinetic energy which translated to economic product.
The net result is still positive, still we are adding more Joules put to use on Earth than we took out, so our net activity is positive, just by being solar powered at the input, no matter what we do with it, it can never be net destruction, like use of materials on Earth created by nature always is.
If we made it ourselves from solar, we can do what we like with it, stick it in old v16 bugattis and drive around making a hell of a noise, and still we doing good.
I am kind of looking forward to that, as well as a proper world for my daughter, an old hydrogen converted bugatti sitting in my yard will be when I know we finally did it :)
