First thoughts are, after reading they are on Solana, they have worked towards, and are working further towards reducing the energy consumption of the powerledger. It now contains elements of both pos and proof of history (Is that not just more pos?). This to me is misdirected effort, they are in the classic mode of working to improve efficient of use of extracted energy, rather than working towards maximising, or changing entirely to mathematically positive energy.
To get an idea how that will affect things in the future of Solana, compared with what we know of the history of Ethereum, for example, whilst Ethereum was pow, it's servers automatically migrated from extracted energy to donated energy, because the latter is obviously cheaper, lower overheads, hence why we can be sure ChatGPT is powered by positive energy, since it resides on long established servers vacated by Ethereum freed up by Ethereum moving to the energyless pos. Those servers have to have been used successfully previously to win the war of mining, therefore they have to be solar powered. Personally I think it was a bad move by Eth, to move to pos, but glad they did, otherwise there would be no ChatGPT.
If users are required to invest their funds in Solana to receive tokens, then the platform is taking energy from users.
It can never be the other way round, if there is no solar energy at the input, as is likely if they are intent on cutting down energy consumption, they are still powered by extracted energy.
So they are not part of any money fuel tree type operation, they are not creating wealth for the planet, by converting donated energy to money, they are only creating profit for those involved, which has to be at the expense of the planet, because profit itself is an energy con which can only be done on the planet, which is the only thing that can provide more energy out than in.
So we have to conclude Solana is essentially itself powered by extracted energy, never energy added, it is more digging into extracted energy dependence, by doing the effort of efficiency improvement on that energy.
I hope this doesn't spoil any of your enthusiasm for the organisation you could be working for, it is a company obviously intent on "Doing the right thing", probably all run with the best of intentions, it probably has more chance than most of being somehow converted to become itself solar powered in the future, but right now it's negatively powered, and it looks like they are digging into that mode, same mode as the rest of industry including the "Renewables" industry, unfortunately.
