Executability

A note by a Professional, on System Modelling, and Truth.

“Executability”; Capability, capableness

“the quality of being capable — physically or intellectually or legally” https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/executability

Formal System Modelling has been around for a while now. Its benefits in the form of MBSE are well established.

I would argue the image of System Modelling is a little tarnished by the first contact and bitter memory of many Engineers and Engineering Managers first experiencing the adoption of modelling as a complete waste of time and money.

That was in the days before model executability.

A model didn’t actually need to reflect truth, and there were many in the “Business of modelling” who took refuge in that fact, to the detriment of the items delivered to the customer, and to the impression of the customer.

Thankfully, those days are almost gone now. But not quite.

To avoid future wasting of my time, as well as that of clients, and the customers of clients, my CV now carries a disclaimer to that end.

My specialism is to deliver executable system models.

I don’t waste anyone’s time and money delivering anything else.
