Exactly, hence the reason it is still impossible, but never fails to attract funding from investors wishing to be part of world domination.

Where real fusion is actually sustained, and offered for free, is the sun.

Also that happens to be our only real source of energy.

“Generation” of electricity by any means, other than by solar collection, is actually just ways of shuffling energy capital in our environment, all of which was put there in the first place by the sun.

When we do that shuffling, we are undoing what was created by the sun, with the usual side effect of creating pollution.

Even better; Pretty much all human activity to date involves exchanging energy-as-capital, with money-as-capital, credit-as-capital, and work-as-capital.

So, everything we do, as long as we are powered by energy capital, as a species, contributes to the continuous production of pollution.

The only way round that, is to swap our input power, from capital energy, to the energy from the sun.

By that, all chances of global domination by any flavour of human over all others would be lost.

However, humanity as a species united, might then move onto domination of the universe.
