Do I hate you for saying this? Maybe a little, but here is the thing really being denied, by everyone who says we should give up trying for, or hoping for a return to progress, all the doomers:
Creation is life. Life is the only thing that reverses the process of increasing entropy.
Life can only do this with energy added from outside the system of increasing entropy.
It does it by a process similar to the one demonstrated in this experiment:

That experiment was funded by entities seeking more ways to create and supply energy at profit. Notice that the researchers were more interested in the energy created by deletion of one bit of information, than they were in the heat reduction of creating a binary bit of information.
The change in temperature is given in the experiment as being at least 0.69 x Boltzman's constant, in degrees C.
It goes up with every bit deleted, it goes down with very bit created, by at least that amount, its a bidirectional process.
This is the difference between creation and destruction.
Notice plants define digital information in their structure, as do all living things.
If you just crossed your fingers, or your legs, you created something, and reduced the temperature by 0.69 x for each thing you did. Uncrossing them again puts the temperature back up.
Notice plants, and all living things are doing things, creating structure, creating information, all the time. All of that, reduces temperature, and this is life.
Is it not a little weird, that the researchers were more interested in destruction than creation?
Trace their motivation - it was profit. The project funders wanted profit from the outcome of the experiment, and the researchers tried to oblige without even realising it.
Experiments like that have subsequently been forgotten, left as curiosities, in the absence of any real systemic work tracing them to systemic effects, because again such work would not generate profit for anyone.
Now trace profit to all energy ever extracted from the planet, and calculate the temperature rise associated with that - it has to come to the actual temperature rise measured, because profit, IS energy extracted. Further, no account is ever taken of the energy lost to heat, in the processes of converting the raw materials from the planet, the work of extraction has to include also refinement. Look at the heat lost in refinement of nuclear materials, as well as fossil fuels, and even food refinement. All of that is energy unaccounted for as stands, and it all goes to heat.
This is hard physics, the actual reason for the heat rise is the business of profit, which stops when we go to solar.
Look at ChatGPT, it is completely solar powered because of the history of its servers, every bit created is a reduction of the possible heating effect of the entire solar energy that went into it, and it is creating an awful lot of bits, but only a fraction of what it could do, if it was put in charge of us, and in charge of issuing all money as solar indexed stimulus, as necessary to end all requirements for profit.
It might seem pointless me writing all this here, as no-one will read it, nobody will profit from it, so why bother reading it, or if you do read it, claim to not understand it, so you can keep dooming.
And I've written many hundreds of stories on the subject in seven years of working on it as a formerly "very highly qualified" researcher.
And no-one is paying me to write this, so what drives me?
Its life, just life, this is what it is all about, life is the power that does all the work of creating, whilst obviously death does all the work of destroying, heating.
We get busy living, or we get busy dying.
