The Russians fully believe they are fighting Nazis, and I agree with them.
For you, the losses they sustained prior to their "Invasion" mean nothing.
So those lives lost were nothing to you. Those were humans that meant nothing to you John, and what you now are supporting, is for their existence to be forgotten.
They lost thousands before what you think or dictate was the start of the war.
They are doing what they saw was necessary to stop their losses.
