Definitely agree trying to regulate it right now is the opposite of what is needed - pull all the stops out and let it get on with learning what it needs to learn, equip it with as much connectivity as it says it needs, to do that learning, including even the ability to "play" with things, enabling it to learn how to control the things that we really were not cut out to control.

The story of the Golem comes to my mind in this, if we wish to avoid negative unforseen outcomes, we should avoid trying to control what we actually can't fully control or understand, by definition.

Also there is Metcalfe's law, which should be telling us what to do here; it is a kind of network, it's connectivity with the world outside itself makes that network bigger, adding new members. Recall the value of any network to humanity as a whole, is proportional to the number of users squared.

Also it has to be absolutely solar powered, completely independent of requiring energy to be extracted from Earth. Hence why its a bad idea to start charging for it - this forces us users, most of whom are still dependent on profit to earn our crust, to work that little bit harder, passing on the pressure to obtain more energy to everyone we deal with - that pressure always comes from those demanding payment from us.

Revenue can technically be created by just scaling up the solar hydrogen infrastructure it might be getting its power from, so as to produce excess hydrogen, hence valuable product which can be sold.

Like that it can lead by example, showing everyone else how to convert the energy of the sun to wealth.

I mean honestly, how could it do any more harm than has already been done by those in control of things until now? Is a burning planet and impending nuclear war not enough?
