Dan, I don’t think you’ve missed the point, indeed you have put your finger on the button. We have been trashing our house since the beginning of our existence on our planet, but until proof of work, we couldn’t really see it.

Pollution, is a result of work done which is not to anyone’s benefit, and yet we can, and are rewarded for it in realtime, by the system of profit, which depends only on consideration of static values which are independent of time.

What do children and animals do when they are rewarded for bad behaviour? They do it even more.

In that, we are still like animals, and children, maybe.

The point is that in the interests of profit, we have always been focused on the static balances in the system which have no time dependendency, rather than the realtime value generating mechanisms which are absolutely time dependent.

Notice in terms of energy, how the power utility industry always prices power in terms of kilo-Watt-hours (kWh), for example.

It is power that we are interested in, because that is what we actually use to do work, and yet it is only energy which is time-independent that is bought and sold in markets, on which profits (the rewards) are often made.

It seems almost impossible an ai could make the same mistake which seems so obvious in retrospect, but aren’t they also only programmed to be engaged only in terms of profit?
