Cost of implementation is not an issue, if the energy coming in converts to money, as it does product. Infinite, is relative to other things, reducing them to zero significance. I appreciate and agree most of the other things you've said in youir comment, though beware talking about thermodynamics as being anything relevant, it only applies to closed systems, and the energy system involving Earth and Sun is not closed.
