Cool story, very true, thanks for posting.
Something amazing is already happening; money-as-sunlight.
Proof-of-work type crypto is going increasingly solar powered, since that is the only kind of energy which is truly free, firsthand from the source, rather than extracted secondhand from Earth, therefore it returns the highest margins in a very competitive market.
So now, wealth, an awful lot of wealth, is being donated in the form of energy from the extraterrestrial source which is the sun.
That is already being injected into the world economy, by being exchanged for conventional money-as-debt (Fiat).
Note again the sun is extraterrestrial.
So the world economy is no longer a closed box, the economists arguments for money being from a finite source are no longer true, therefore "We can't afford it" is no longer true.
Further, when we look at the consequential value of a single Bitcoin for example, we see a constant term representing the capital exchanged for the token, and a time dependent term, representing the solar energy capacity that the token "Pushed up".
The second term is some quantity of Joules per second, which accumulates towards infinity with time, compared with the capital part which tends to zero in comparison.
That might well be a mathematical proof of the end of capitalism, and our move finally from Kardashev stage zero, to Kardashev stage one.
