On efficiency, it has a different meaning in a non-profit / free money world, where we appear to be heading, as also does anything defined in terms of GDP, since that will also be superseded.

I think aligning the function of money with the function of sunlight (Empowerment) will finally align humanity in the way which will automatically decouple expansion from environmental harm. It will also remove the “Embedded growth obligation”, which drives expansion in conventional capitalism, so appears to meet all requirements.
