Cool article, and very politically relevant, given the stated ambitions of the Starmer et al to create a new public utilities energy company.
Glad you didn't lump solar in with your criticism of wind. I agree with you, and I come from having worked in the energy metering industry, wind power is a scam, it fixes nothing. In fact it detracts attention (And funds!) from where real good has to come from - solar. But it makes some profit, therefore it actually does damage, because profit is the real root cause of the planetary temperature rise.
Convert all money of profit to energy at KWhr market rates, and notice the amounts dwarf anything we see associated with electricity and even fuel - money is the main transport mechanism of energy, because money is energy, physically, always.
What we see there, with profit being ultimately a "Bite" of energy taken from the planet in every case, notice humans, and actually no living thing can ever supply more energy out than in, not even the planet, though we've made it do it for a few thousand years, it is coming to an end, it is discharging towards zero, where the sun is the only energy acting to recharge, its the only "Mains" source of energy in nature, therefore that is the source we have to switch to.
All other forms of energy are mathematically negative, extracted from the planet, and this is what profit exclusively depends on - profit is monetised destruction, whereas what we need to move to is monetising creation, which is what we would / will be doing when we make the switch to solar energy.
Until then, we are only pretending to switch to it, by selling it for profit, for example, we demand more KWhrs from folk than we gave them by it, and therefore that energy difference has to again come from the planet. So thus far we might see we are merely abusing solar energy, by not supplying it as delivered - for free.
This is something I've been working on since seeing what is a global energy problem coming, around 2017 when working on PhD candidate research.
I hope sometime mainstream will come to accept what needs to be done.
Your post gives me hope, because its one of the first I've seen to specifically focus on wind, rather than lumping it all together as "Renewables".
Good stuff, thanks for posting. I hope there does come evidence showing wind is directly related to harm done. Actually its inevitable such evidence has to appear, because fundamentally, its just more energy extracted from the planet, and of course its always for profit.
