I am always interested to read stories like this, with people’s thoughts, and understandable lament, on the state of our species.

For me, working previously at the highest technical levels of all manners of systems, usually with government customers, I have yet to see anything that makes me think there might be some technologies or organisation of individuals on Earth who are hiding things from the rest of us, to be in control of everything.

One of the things that kind of shocked me the first time I worked on a very large technical project, with thousands of other Engineers, was the realisation that no-one really was in control.

The crowd in a very large project tend to toss authority around between them like headless chickens, as they all compete to make the most money in their careers.

And every project just got worse, as more and more corrupt practices became acceptable, by everyone being brainwashed into thinking that was OK, when it wasn’t really.

The Boeing 737 max saga is just the tip of the iceberg, where systemic, legally accepted corruption has obviously cost lives.

Government looks like just another of those large projects.

It really is just vaguely organised chaos, which usually results in product at the output, which usually can be massaged into something the customer is finally happy with, but which in time becomes a more and more difficult task, as margins get thinner and thinner.

With profit-at-all-costs society, I think we are the architects of our own disaster, recursively brainwashing ourselves away from our maximum capability as a species.

In my mind, “god” is some kind of intelligent presence in a dimension we still don’t understand.

I think there there have been many interventions, by probably ETs who know much more about that, and thus a lot more about us than we do ourselves.

We may well have been in contact and maybe even trading with ETs, until around the time of WW2.

But then, we might have disagreed with them, about what to do with nuclear technology.

They would absolutely have turned their backs on us, when they realised we were proceeding with plans to use that technology to blow up millions of our own species.

It seems to me that all of our woes are down to our incredible ability to brainwash ourselves.

The practice of competing against one another for profit, all the way through life, seems to require us to be able to progressively brainwash ourselves in such a way that we become immune to the pain and suffering that we are inflicting as a result.

So we need to continually deny all feelings of guilt, shame, greed, etc, to a point where we think we still have those feelings, but actually what we feel is completely false.

I think this is a kind of illness we are prone to as a hybrid animal/logical species, and the more “wealth” we have relative to one another, the more profoundly ill we are. Thus, as a species, we don’t have much value at all to offer other species that we might have traded with.

To be honest, we have only scratched the surface of human capability, if only we could learn to work in real collaboration, we could have been interplanetary long ago.

I believe that the formally recorded “Divine interventions” that we know about were intended to put us back on track, by showing us that we are capable of creating amazing things, when we truly work together in collaboration, creating even things like food out of thin air.

Now, as we see the systems built on greed starting to crumble yet again, maybe we’ll turn to using the latest technologies towards changing that tendency of greed, or maybe we won’t.

Time will tell.
