But your cars would quickly devalue if unchanged when better, or alternative battery technology came along (like fuel cells), and you wouldn't want that, so you will express skepticism of all new battery replacement technologies.
You are invested in your cars, and probably many other things, as is Tesla the company, and Musk, its owner, and as such you are depending on the power of capital, which is stored energy, as opposed to the energy of the sun, which is the only form of natural, raw energy delivered to us for free, not extracted, and the only kind of energy we can use causing no damage. But our economy runs on money-as-debt, which is all promises to extract, not to receive for free.
So our fixation with capital, which is all things we possess, with a view to making or preserving profit, is the thing tying us into fossil fuels.
Sorry if that affects your sense of moral high ground.
