But what is a rationalist? A rationalist accepts that their own model of self is tenuously linked to their environment by their senses, therefore one can never have certainty of what is reality. So a true rationalist must question their own beliefs, and accept that widely held beliefs which are contrary to their own perceptions are believed for good reason. Other people might know better than we do ourselves.
