I came to similar conclusions a few years ago, during a PhD which ground to a halt as a result.

But I came at the problem from a different angle, as also a practicing Systems Engineer of many years, I had analysed the conditions necessary to bring about a highly beneficial mixed reality system and network, which became the object of the PhD, it became apparent it can’t be done at profit, and then couldn’t avoid falling down the rabbit-hole of the other consequences of profit, including all of the implications on our education systems, media channels, financial systems, energy systems, wars, inequality, the environment, in fact, everything.

Of course it is all connected.

At the heart of it is what I call the Grand Energy Ponzi (GEP).

Essentially that is us, living on an isolated ball, treating everything on it (all capital), like it is a zero-sum resource, and we own it, neglecting that it was all put here by the energy of the sun, which still shines on it, and us, still creative, when all is well.

When we analyse all as a system, we see crystal clear that Earth is like an almost discharged battery, and we are refusing to plug it back into the mains socket (The sun), all in the interests of profit.

Hence the Grand Energy Ponzi.

Profit is an extremely destructive force on an intelligent species, it is no less addictive than heroin it seems to me.

It ends soon, if we can’t plug in.

Bitcoin seems to be turning out to be a very unlikely key, as what I’ve called a Kardashev Hinge.

I’ve written literally hundreds of stories and thousands of detailed comments on subjects around the GEP, in Medium so far, and won’t stop until things are fixed, or the lights go out.

It is a natural reaction for me to write about it, I guess the same might be true for you too.

So far, we don’t see much evidence of others who can see much of the GEP, profit has the incredible power of totally blinding us to reality, but I have every confidence we are getting there, your post is the first I would describe as seeing even part of the same picture.
