It seems counter-intuitive that a panel should be clear, when the aim is to maximise the panel efficiency in converting as much sunlight as possible to electrical power.

But efficiency is irrelevant when the source of power is infinite, and power is money, so cost is no longer important.

Ascetics then cost nothing whilst adding huge value.

Which do we prefer; a few centralised, relatively efficient but unattractive, battery-backed solar farms, sited mostly away from the human habited facilities consuming power, or ubiquitous coverage of attractive panellage, and other transparent, power generating features all around us?

I can see this tech being huge, imagine transparent tree structures, extending upwards from the rooftops of buildings, in all kinds of artistic configurations.
