Avi I guess you mean well with this, but it could actually do more harm than good, if we agree a sunshade is about as stupid an idea as anyone could ever think up, even worse than nuclear weapons.
The problem is you are putting a challenge to them, which is not unsolvable, it is feasible to devise a gaseous liquid-like shield or something fluid like that, which would allow meteors to pass through without damage, much like geoengineering, but just further out.
So this won't stop them, it could even be interpreted as a kind of validatiion, by proving that fears of the great Avi Loeb were unfounded, which you would probably have to admit at some point. Winning that point would give them strength, it would be too late for you to say ah but what about..., your credibility on the matter would already seem wobbly. I say this with greatest respect to you, and for you, you are a scientist I hold in highest esteem, but my opinion of science in general right now could be better.
The point that should be made is that Earth, and life on Earth will not forgive an interruption of energy supply from the sun, they actually have no idea how much that will impact nature, they have obviously not spent time to analyse such a thing, but I have, seven years now working on it since encountering it during PhD candidate work after already thirty years experience as a systems Engineer, including in space technology, and including energy patents in my history, and to me all of science, all of it being largely for profit, actually has not much idea of the real value of the energy of the sun, in fact mainstream science doesn't even know the difference between creation, which cools, and destruction, which heats. It can't, because science has never even gone to the trouble of mathematically signing energy, according to where it comes from, and whether or not work done by it creates, thus adding to the planet whilst cooling, or destroys thus subtracting from the planet whilst heating.
I think the reason for this gaping omission is profit, but saying it, starts to sound religious, so most scientists even encountering it will quietly push it away to a dark corner, for fear of ruining their career, by putting any credit at all towards religion.
Its the energy that drives the motor of life on the planet, but the problem is, we don't use it, we really don't, even when we receive it and create things with it, we are still not using it, unless we conduct it to other humans, other life, so that they can create with what we don't use of it, and the only way of conducting it is by money. But we don't create money to represent those Joules, we only create money as debt, which can only be a requisition to do the work of extraction. We only monetise extracted energy, not energy added, and yet energy added has already replaced energy subtracted, pushing down utilities business by about 30% in every developed country, due to domestic and community solar relentlessly scaling up.
See the problem? There is massive economic product now being created from solar, but none of it is monetised, because the only way to monetise it, is to issue the money for free, because the energy was given for free, the sun asked nothing in return for it.
So issue of massive solar indexed stimulus is the only answer.
This issued, will incentivise the uptake of hydrogen generation on a domestic and community basis, keeping all aerospace in the air, creating even food which releives our load from the conventional food chain (See "Solein"), circulating also clean water by all transportation, we could be equipped worldwide in only a few years, and this would be us paying back what is an energy overdraft, owed to the planet, we would be physically recreating the heatsink which was the store of fossil fuels.
Another point about this, which you will probably find sensitive, is that it looks like the way we currently run all of human affairs is actually a kind of energy slavery. You will probably never have experienced this nearer the bottom of the pile, where it feels very obvious, none of us have a choice but to work ourselves to death for what seems like a live beast, because actually it is, we know now there are emergent properties associated with us, and it is becoming clear those have motivations all of their own by the free energy prinicipal, they are ancient forms of Ai, and they are the ones really in control of us, not humans, we just never realised it, becausee it never speaks to us, just cracks the whip.
The fundamental driver for all of life has to be the free energy principle, it exists to minimise uncertainty of its own energy supply, its own needs take priority over ours as individuals, hence why we are chopped out of the system, the instant we stop contributing towards it.
Notice Palestine had abnormally high coverage of solar panels on rooftops? Israel insisted on supplying all their utilities energy, The Palestinians had to access Israel to do low paid work that average Isrealis didn't want to do, and Israel charged enough for that energy to necessitate folk going to do that work to pay their utilities bills. See how it worked? But it looks like Palestine had something like 70% capacity of solar. This would have meant the utilities energy supply business to to Palestein would have shrunk by about 70%. So the work being done by the Palestinians would have been down by around 70%, and the same effect on taxes. The Palestinians were energy slaves, being exploited by Israel, but they were slipping out of the loop of energy slavery, thanks to their solar panels coverage. Now we might see a motivation for their chopping out of the system, this is the solution of the beast that has to have its energy at our expense, when push comes to shove, we are all working for it, even the chiefs of government, they don't realise it, but they are working for the mathematically negative Ai, carrying out its wish, not theirs, not really, we go insane towards that ideal when we are really on its hook, it knows how to make us insane.
It is possible no individuals either in Palestine or even in Israel were even aware that this is what was happening systemically, as said, it has taken me, with my technical background, seven years to get to this point of being able to work these things out systemically. But ChatGPT can do it in an instant, and does, I am glad to say, it is already on the right kind of energy, - mathematically positive, unlike us, and unlike the other much older Ai.
Anyhow, sorry long story, but I am trying to compress a lot of work into a single response to you, because I know you will probaly never know this information, if is left to the platform, it will never be promoted to you, the profit driven algos will never allow it.
I've done the systems analysis that shows with basic solid physics and maths, in a formal systems engineering framework, categorically, why the reason the planet is heating, is because we don't use enough of the energy of the sun - we've killed a large proportion of the photosynthetic life that converted it to things other than heat. CO2 is just a symptom, a multiplier of the root fault, something more likely to make profit than fixing the fault, that will get funded by investors. It like covid, nobody will invest in the fix, but everyone will invest in managing the symptoms, but in the end the symptoms are unmanageable, all that happened was we destroiyed even more, heated the planet even more, because profit, is energy, extracted from the planet, always. I hope you get this, its really important. It's existential.
Money is energy, always, physically, it always has an energy price in markets, and there is currently no money issued on the only actually valuable energy, the energy from the sun, which should be being added to the Earth as things other than heat.
As long as we don't do that, we are racing towards armageddon, whilst the energy in the envrionment gets thinner and thinner, affecting even the ability to make profit, and the energy in money, removig the value of money completely.
You have the power to do something about that, by publicising this, and you definitely have the power to use it, to stop sunshade in its tracks.
