As long as we can find ways of making businesses and careers from reducing the rate of damage, we will keep doing the damage.
You might agree environmental science is not generally taught to truly fix the problem, but to make "Sucessful" careers in it.
Just as the pharma industry is more interested in maintaining illness than curing it.
If the problem was fixed, there would be no business or careers in it.
The solution to all of the problems is really very simple, to connect our energy hungry species to the only source of energy.
But that isn't taught as a formal discipline, because it will end the business driven by environmental concerns.
